The new Social Democratic Party (SDP) has vowed to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State. SDP said its resolve to bring better governance to Abians by implementing a people-oriented governance system which will rebuild the confidence of Abians in politics.

He affirmed that Abians have waited for too long for a party with the capacity and caliber of the SDP, and is quickly gaining wide acceptance across board.
He announced that the party’s manifesto targets women, youths and children as its focus empowerment, and would begin development of Abia State from the grassroots.
He stated “The SDP is the party Abians have been waiting for. This is the only party with the capacity to muster power and dislodge the PDP come 2019. Our party has the full support of sociocultural groups across Nigeria. Abians must come out en mass and support the SDP, this is the new hope for all Nigerians”.

10 man committee emerge to steer Abia SDP

The hunger of Nigerians for a new political solution to political leadership was assuaged on Saturday, 17th March, 2018 when the Social Democratic Party (SDP) elected a 10 man state executive committee to steer the party forward in the state.

The new SDP emerged in Abuja as the face of the third force, after several deliberations and meetings of political parties, civil society organizations, interest groups and individuals who felt that there was a need for political upheaval.

The new formation was made after by-elections were held to choose one representative from each federal constituencies in the state.

Party faithful from the three senatorial zones were directed to elect representatives and they are to steer the affairs of the party in the state.

Hundreds of party faithful were part of the process, as their eagerness to work with the emerging mega party could not be hidden.

Reacting to the peaceful elections, the new National Organising Secretary of the party, Honourable Emeka Atuma told how a new alliance gave birth to the new SDP, which is now a mega party. He also warned that the SDP was on its way to clinch power from two other inept parties which have held national power in the past 19 years; “I am an interim National Organising Secretary and we were only selected to man the affairs of the party in the interim. It’s our responsibility to go round and mobilize membership for the party.

He advised the new leadership of the party in the state that they must not relax and believe that they have arrived. “Its time to work, and you must work very hard to ensure that the mobilization exercise is massive, total and all-encompassing. Ours is a resurrected party, and it’s life is eternal. SDP is the new mega party is a mega, and is on its way to becoming the national ruling party”.

Also speaking at the meeting, former member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Honourable Mba Ajah said that Abians were weary of incompetent leadership. He prophesied that by 2019, SDP will produce the next governor of the state, as well as the next president of Nigeria. He also prophesied that those who do not believe will be like the man in the bible who didn’t believe that famine would end in 24 hours according to the prophecy of Elijah, and got trampled by the crowd who trooped out to get food when it came in abundance. “Those of you who are here and don’t believe shall see this new day in Abia, but won’t be part of it. Those who have come here as moles or spies against this party, they shall not enjoy the good that the SDP is bringing to Abia and Nigeria”, he prayed.
