Peace Is Inevitable In Nigeria, Says Presidential Spokesman Adesina

Those who rupture the peace in different parts of the country will not have the last laugh, says Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

Receiving members of Junior Chamber International (JCI), Ikoyi, and Orji Kalu Foundation, who came to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tuesday, as part of a Peace Rally, Adesina stated: “For those working against peace in our country, I have news for them. They will never win. Nigeria will have peace, and if the evildoers don’t settle for peace, that peace will be attained without them. Whether they like it or not, peace will return to Nigeria, despite the difficult times we are passing through now.”

The media adviser commended the peace marchers for their initiative, noting that the quest for peace was very dear to the heart of the President, “and no matter what the people say, we will get to that peaceful shore in this country.”

Diversity should be a source of strength, rather than a centrifugal force, Adesina added, submitting that ethnicity, religion, language, and political differences need not lead to animosities and shedding of innocent blood.

At the event, Hon. Demian Igbokwe read a speech on behalf of Chief Orji Kalu, former governor of Abia State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, who was one of the brains behind the Peace Walk.

Under the title ‘Peace is Possible in Nigeria,’ Kalu lamented that the country had over the years been in the grips of ethno-religious crises, agitations, hatred, distress, insecurity, disunity, violence, hardship and general failure.

“Peace is not just a word, it is an act. It is not enough to talk about peace, one must believe in it. And it is not enough to believe in it, one must act on it,” Kalu stated.

If peace would be possible in Nigeria, he said Nigerians must see themselves as brothers and sisters, there must be massive enlightenment on the values of peaceful co-existence, everyone must be involved in security, and there must be synergy among the security agencies.

PMB@WORK: How Itakpe-Warri Rail Was Brought To Life 30 Years After

The Itakpe-Warri Rail Line runs from Itakpe in Kogi State, first to Ajaokuta, also in Kogi, and then across Kogi, Edo and Delta States, terminating in Warri, Delta State. It was conceived more than 30 years ago to connect Nigeria’s Iron Ore Mining and Steel Production belt (Iron Ore Mining Company in Itakpe, Ajaokuta Steel Company, and Delta Steel Company in Aladja, Warri), and also link it to the Warri Port.

Most of the track laying was done under the Babangida Administration (he commissioned the Itakpe-Ajaokuta leg, and laid the foundation for the Ajaokuta-Warri leg) and then subsequently abandoned. There were efforts and moves to restart and complete it under subsequent administrations, but no real progress was made, until the Buhari Administration took over, and decided to prioritize it as part of the National Rail Modernisation Programme.

Work finally resumed on site around August/September 2017, and has continued since then, focusing on

– the rehabilitation and modernization of the tracks already laid more than two decades ago (parts of it vandalised over the years);

– completion of track laying (the Ajaokuta-Warri stretch had apparently never been completed).

– construction of a modern Railway Village & Maintenance Yard in Agbor

– construction of passenger stations (12 in total) between Itakpe and Warri. Station towns include Igbanke, Agenebode, Uromi, Agbor, and Abraka.

The line is now being envisioned as the Central Line of the National Standard Gauge Rail, complementing the other 3 lines planned:

Western Line – Lagos-Kano (Lagos-Ibadan leg currently under construction; Abuja-Kaduna spur line completed)

– Eastern Line – Port Harcourt-Maiduguri

– Coastal Line – Lagos-Calabar

The total length of the Itakpe-Warri line is about 327 km: about 50km between Itakpe and Ajaokuta, and 277km between Ajaokuta and Warri. There are future plans to extend it to Lokoja, and then to Abuja, where it will link up with the Abuja-Kaduna Rail. When this is done, it will mean that you can travel by standard gauge rail from the Niger Delta all the way into the heart of Northern Nigeria.

The Rail system is designed to run at speeds between 120 and 150km/hour, meaning that it will be possible to cut travel time between Warri and Lokoja by half.

Atiku, Most Prepared Human Being To Salvage Nigeria-Segun Showunmi

On Tuesday, July 3, 2018, Director General of Atikulated Agenda, Chief Emeka Kalu in company of Director General, ADLI, Hon Dominic Okechukwu Nwuzor visited the national headquarters of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign organization where they met with the spokesperson, Segun Showunmi.

In the course of discussions, Mr Showumi presented the dossier for the presidency of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, where he argued that ‘no other person in the world is as qualified as Atiku to lead Nigeria at this point in time’.

JUNGLE JOURNALIST NEWS CORPORATION exclusively brings you his presentation. Excerpts:

Atiku has created 200, 000 indirect, 60, 000 direct jobs

God has prepared him to unite us because all of us can be part of him. I also heard you speak loudly about jobs. The truth of the matter is that Nigeria is sitting on a time bomb waiting to explode. You cannot tell people to go to school, you cannot tell them that being graduates will get them employed, and then you are churning graduates out year in year out, and they are not able to get jobs.

It’s only a matter of time before everything blows up in our fees. Therefore you need somebody who understands what it takes to create jobs at the head of affairs to be able to create a system and policies and negotiations arrangements with international companies , the local public, create the enabling environment that can create jobs.

It is only a man who knows what an investor is looking for that can easily understand the language that the investors are speaking as president. Someone who has created our 6o thousand direct paying job of his own, and about 200, 000 indirect jobs on his now thats are running daily as a private man understands the problems and challenges that investors face.

Capital does not flow where there is no freedom

Someone who does or hasn’t done that more than likely, may even be at a policy opposite to what the investors want, because the more you throw your body out there as a president, the more you hem in all of the people that are able to create investment. The more you act as if you want to run a rigid and parochial system, the more you create fear in the investment climate, and one of the things I know about capital; is that capital does not flow when there is no freedom.

It is only where there is a lot of freedom that people can have an opportunity to express themselves, to try their creativity out and not be feeling like, if I do this I will get into trouble, you cannot have a system that shakes the whole nation and you attract investment. You cannot apply the laws in a manner that people are not sure of justice and you will expect that you will attract investment.

As Customs expert, Atiku’s inherent skill is what’s needed to manage our porous borders

The narrative around the country cannot be that everyday people can just sleep in one village and people will just go and kill them for no just cause, and they will continually do this for three years and no consequence, nobody is arrested, no strong statement from the villa, no marching order that can show that if they catch you doing this you will not be able to attract investors.
Atiku understands all these.

In terms of the management of our borders, which is one of the major challenges wee are having now, people just coming in and out, remember that Atiku is a customs expert who have managed the northern borders. That means that he has an inherent skill and knowledge of what obtains at the borders, and it is those kinds of skills that he needs to bring to bear in a consensus arrangement to get us out of this quagmire.

Atiku’s restructuring agenda will give different ethnic groups a chance to decide what they want with Nigeria

Remember also that Atiku Abubakar is a democrat. Some of these things that the present occupiers of the office are struggling with, they really have not made enough room to sit down with the leaders of that area to figure out how do we solve this problem?

Sometimes the over-militarization of the problem cannot be the solution, because you don’t have enough arms and men to be able to micro police and micro secure every area.

When you are securing this, they are attacking this. That’s a difficult situation. You need a completely different mindset, and the basic foundation for you to be able to make sure that the country will be seing themselves as Nigerians again is the restructuring arrangement that Atiku Abubakar has been screaming about for the past couple of years. No individual has been consistently talking about the need to look at the structure we are running to unleash the potentials we have in every section more than Atiku.

Nigeria out in the 4th Industrial revolution due to bad governance

So, the time is so ripe, Nigeria cannot even afford toy continue the way we are doing. The fourth industrial revolution is a very unforgiving revolution. Everybody who has caught up to that revolution, you can see transformational leaps in their development. Even in Africa, you can see Kenya, you can see Rwanda, if you turn to the Middle East, you can see Dubai, you can see Abu Dhabi, you can even see Saudi Arabia truing to reform and recreate the new leisure for its people. Where is Nigeria?

So, you can’t be sitting on 200 million or 180 million Nigerians with a mean average age of 17, 18, which means that you can double your population in the next five years or 10 maximum. If you can double your population, you have to rethink the vision with which have to be participating under the global economy, and the kind of leader that will be able to do that for you is a thinking leader, a researching leader, a leader that is not afraid of brilliant arguments, a leader that populates his table with people that can bring good ideas there, a leaders that continually interrogates the issue, a leader that can connect and empathize with everybody wherever they are and whatever is going on with the. That is a leader that has a vision, a has a new feat of stamina for the race. Now we have seen via Atiku Abubakar’s life in public service that God has prepared him for this time. It is true that he had wanted to be president before now, and the Lord had not allowed it, perhaps because God already knew that there is someone coming in the future of Nigeria that will need the totality of the skills that Atiku has.

Atiku, most prepared human being to get Nigeria out of present quagmire

Therefore, Atiku is the most prepared human being, most prepared human being, I repeat myself, to get us out of this trouble. 2019 is not an election really. 2019 is a referendum around, whether we want to continue this way and run this race that the whole country will even collapse on our head, or we are going to figure out and create as new way to bring people back to the table, get them all together, build consensus, make decisions about what kind of country we want to run, and ensure that we put a leader there that can stand toe-to-toe with any leader in the world and tell them, this is the time for Africa, this is the time for Nigeria, these area the term,s by which Nigeria will operate, and this is where Nigeria is going in the future.

The only person that I know that can do it is Waziri Atiku Abubakar. More than that, Nigeria because of its leadership management errors of the past is such that the younger people are so ready to take over the leadership bout they have not been prepared, they have not been mentored, succession has not been planned, and the only leader of them all that have demonstrated consistently over the years, that will like to bring young people on board, likes to bringing clever people on board, likes to give them opportunity to learn is Atiku Abubakar.

If you have Nasir el Rufai today you must thank Atiku for it, if you have Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala today, you must thank Atiku for it, if you have Ribadu today, you must thank Atiku for it. These were young people that he tried to bring on board. If you hear Bukola Saraki today, you must thank Atiku for it. So Atiku has always been a leads who understand that succession must be planned, but unfortunately, unless you give him the opportunity to sit down there to rescue the country, to recreate the vision under his supervision, to unleash the vision and let the inheritors of the vision come and take it over to the next level, Nigeria is doomed.

So, thank you very much for coming, Atikulated Agenda is well known, and we have seen your brand, I want to continue to encourage you to put your support there, the work is in two phases, there is no decent Nigerian who will want to go for Buhari so leave him out of it, the first phase is to be able to convince the PDP delegates that this is not the time for bickering, it’s the time to quickly narrow down and look at all the candidates that can get the job done, a man who can stand even when he is at risk, to stand against entrenched interests.

If you cannot be known in the smallest village in the South West, or in the South East, your name does not even have a meaning to the people in the North, everybody in Nigeria knows the name Atiku, and they know him as someone who is a sure leader, a good man, a family man, a unifier of the people, and who is a very disciplined and astute player in the political race with a lot of intelligence to be able to carry us along.

Like Atiku, every Nigerian boy or girl can also succeed – Kalu

Director General of Atikulated Agenda 2019, Chief Emeka Kalu has advised Nigerian boys and girls to use the life of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as motivation that they also can be successful in life, irrespective of their background.

Kalu gave the advise in his goodwill message to pupils of Children’s Home Institute Benin City during their 2018 End of Year Celebrations.

Kalu, who spoke to the pupils through a representative urged them to be of good behavior, study and work very hard with the conviction that they can become as great as they want to, if only they believe. “If Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who we know will become Nigeria’s next president can do it, so can you. Let me tell you, Atiku didn’t even have the kind of opportunities you kids have today.”

He continued “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was a poor boy from Jada, Adamawa State. His father was afraid of sending him to school and was jailed for doing that. When Atiku stated schooling, his father was drowned and only his mother and relatives trained him. It was very hard but he worked till he excelled. From being a clerk, he rose to work as a customs officer, and rose to a high position. He also later became the Vice President of Nigeria.

“So you see, if he could rise from that poverty, so could you. Never give up on your dreams. Every one of you, and of course, every boy or girl in Nigeria can also become rich and great, just like Atiku”, Kalu stated.

How we persuaded Atiku to run for presidency – Kalu

Director General of Atikulated Agenda 2019, Chief Emeka Kalu has revealed how he and some other individuals persuaded Alhaji Atiku Abubakar into accepting to run for presidency.

Kalu spoke to journalists in a teleconference from Houston Texas, in the United States.

He described the former Vice President and presidential aspirant as a man wholly qualified for the job in all ramifications.

“It gives me a lot of concern when some people begin to talk down on Alhaji Atiku.

“Atiku didn’t want to run for presidency at first. Some fellow statemen and I went to see him and we tried to convince him that he should come and rescue Nigeria ,He said no, because he tried it in the past and didn’t want to do it again. We kept persuading him, putting pressure on him till he caved in and accepted to come and rescue our country from this present catastrophic and tyrant government of Muhammadu Buhari.

“I want it to be on record that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar accepted to run for presidency because he has the interest of Nigeria progress at heart”.

Kalu also said “Atiku started as a common man while working with the Nigerian customs , and grew up through Rank and file to the rank of Deputy controller, through his hard-work and diligence he became an astute business man, with the wealth of experience he gathered both locally and internationally, he became the Vice President. All these he achieved through hard work and dedication to service

“Go and read about him. We need a man who is capable of making Nigeria a first class nation. A man capable of restoring our country’s lost glory and even the ones we have always yearned for.

“Atiku has earned his wealth, and if he didn’t, someone should please present any evidence of wrong doing , he has repeatedly said that but no one has ever came up with anything , so all these misfiring should stop. It’s like me here working my head off, building my empire and one day someone comes forward to accuse me of being corrupt.

“If we mistakenly fail to elect this man, Nigeria will collapse completely as a nation. We must avoid this. Look at the USA, president Donald Trump started like Atiku from a humble beginning , he was into business with his father. Today he is president if the greatest Nation in the world , making America great again. That’s the kind of history we need to narrate about Nigeria”, Kalu cautioned.

He argued further that as a detribalized individual that cares about the youths and the entire nation building , Atiku will use his international relations with other countries to make Nigeria great again and he will be a president for all Nigerians and will run an inclusive government, “I challenge Nigerian to give this man a chance so that we can see a new Nigeria, and our generation will live to enjoy this nation once more, do not get sentimental, let’s collectively send Atiku to work for all Nigerians, so that our youths will gain employment once graduated from college, our artisans will be trained to work in their areas of specialities and while the sporadic killings will stop and our country will be peaceful once more”.

PRESIDENCY 2019: Buhari reveals why he declared early

President Muhammadu Buhari Friday in Abuja said he made his intention to contest the 2019 Presidential Elections known early in order to douse rising speculations and give the party, All Progressives Congress (APC), enough time to prepare for the polls.

President Buhari, who received members of the Buhari Support Group Centre (BSGC) at the State House, said he noticed that speculations were already constituting distraction to governance and stirring tensions, so he had to declare during the National Executive Committee meeting of the party.

“I had to announce before the National Executive Committee of our party about my intention to ask for the party’s nomination for next year’s election so that we can save a lot of time and cool tempers.

“A lot people were trying to make it a habit of being a nuisance to themselves and many Nigerians, so when I came out I said those who are serious let them come out.

“And I tried to make sure that the party is organized and consolidated so that we start from the bottom to the top, and that Nigerians will be involved in a way that each constituency will pick those that are going to represent them at various levels, whether as Local Government chairmen, in the State Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and finally the president,’’ he said.

The President said early declaration guaranteed more participation and inclusivity within the party, and further strengthened the bond with supporters and Nigerians.

“Some of the people thought to be uneducated and unsophisticated are very educated and sophisticated during elections; for those who have money to give they say bring the money we will still do what we want to do,’’ he added.

President Buhari noted that God’s divine intervention and the use of technology during the 2015 elections exposed the weakness of previous processes where a privileged few sat and allocated figures to constituencies during elections.

“They just sit and look at a constituency and they award the numbers, then they say anybody who disagrees should go to court; now for somebody who is looking for the next meal where does he get money to pay Senior Advocates of Nigeria?

“Thank God for technology, with the PVC you know where you registered and it can be shown whether you voted or not,’’ the President said.

He advised Nigerians to get their voters card for the 2019 elections, and ensure that they vote to please their conscience with pride as citizens.

The President commended the BSGC for all the sacrifice and steadfastness in championing his candidacy.

“I thank you very much for the sacrifice you have been making. I am happy to use this opportunity to meet you and thank you for the sacrifices and steadfastness. I don’t think I can thank you enough because by identifying yourself as a group for all these years and getting nothing for it visibly I think its worthy of commendation,’’ he said.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of the BSGC, Umaru Dembo, said “through thick and thin, rain or sun shine, hot or cold we are here to assure Mr President that since 2014 we have been working, expanding and helping to explain the new life that your government has ushered in for the good people of Nigeria.’’

He said the BSGC had initiated the documentation of the President’s achievements in a book authored by Dr Sani Muktar Bichi and himself.

Dembo assured the President of a bottom-up process of mobilising more supporters for the administration, while appreciating him for reversing the trend of impunity, corruption and lawlessness that reigned before 2015.

Dembo said the BSGC was an umbrella organisation encompassing “Women for Buhari and Osinbajo’’, “A Kasaa Tsare’’, “Northern Youth Assembly,” “Buhari Renewal mandate’’ and others in support of good governance in Nigeria.

Garba Shehu describes Fayose as ‘high-powered nothing’

Fayose: In The End, A High-Powered Nothing

The people of the politically significant State of Ekiti have spoken against their Governor, outgoing governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, who told them that the governorship election they just had was a referendum on President Muhammadu Buhari. He said candidates Kayode Fayemi and Olusola Eleka were pawns and that he and President Buhari were the actual contestants.

In what observers said was the most intense, and a most angry campaign, the people gave their verdict: Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the one-time governor, declared persona-non-grata is now persona-grata again. President Buhari has won this referendum. The people of the State have sent a clear message. The politics of brinksmanship, assaults, insults, abuses and Robin Hoodism disguised as stomach infrastructure has been rejected in favour of politics of inclusion, development, responsibility and good governance.

President Buhari’s war against corruption and insecurity; the message of agric revolution and infrastructure development and fidelity in resource allocation and management have struck a chord with Ekiti voters, who had been lied to and deceived by Governor Fayose. While the opposition continued to rant at him, President Buhari’s uprightness, coupled with incorruptibility and personal integrity, unmatched by any politician in the country has again stood the test of time.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) win in Ekiti means that the Party has control over 25 out of the 36 states of the Federation. The party thus becomes the only one in power in the six states of the South-West geopolitical zone.

Besides reinforcing the APC’s position as the only standing pole in the political landscape, it is a credit to the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, against whom all manner of ethnic and religious opposition is being mounted by former President Obasanjo and some of the Asiwaju’s sworn enemies in the sub-region.

With this, the political landscape of the South-West has been transformed. APC’s regional strength has been strengthened and the Asiwaju will be respected even better. Without losing patience and decorum, the Asiwaju has proved that rivals must reconcile and come to terms or lose everything.

This win is equally a huge boost to the APC and its new leadership under Chairman Adams Oshiomole, who got their first baptism of fire in Ekiti. It is, importantly, a big boost to the second term ambition of President Muhammadu Buhari.

For the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which came second in the election in a state that they held sway, it is a loss politically and psychologically. The result of the election has proved that PDP is irreparably broken and dismantled. They have nothing to offer to the country and its people. The message from Ekiti is that no state in Nigeria will vote PDP. Never again.

As for Mr. Fayose and his morbid brand of politics, it is now his time to reconcile himself to the imminent political extinction he faces, his political career sealed for good. Newspapers have mistaken him for a gadfly who creates discomfort for the government at the centre to make it better, but Fayose is a street-type thug. He never fits the role of a gadfly because he thrives on bitter enmity. Opposition does not mean a negative view of everything. Neither does it translate into a licence to abuse your superiors.

The winner of the election, Governor Fayemi’s trajectory from a persona-non-grata to a persona-grata again has given a wave of cheer to APC members all over the country. It has given a fresh hope that fake news, lies and propaganda run only short distances, because they have short legs.

An old proverb says you can’t beat something with nothing. After all the noise, theatricals and drama, Fayose’s fall came with a thud, not a bang: a high-powered nothing.

Ekiti governorship results, another rape of democracy, says Kalu

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Director General of Atikulated Agenda 2019, Dr Emeka Kalu has said that Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State is the a rape of democracy of Nigeria.

He called for the immediate cancelation of the results.

Kalu also stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), should get its act together and recount the rwujts to declare Dr Kayode Fayemi loser and Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka of the PDP winner.

He stated this in a press release made available to journalists on Sunday, 15th July in Lagos.

He however called for calm on the part of Ekiti people, PDP and Nigerians in general, but warned that there could be repercussions if INEC refuse to do the will of the people by withdrawing the result.

Obasanjo congratulates Fayemi over victory

Following the declaration of Dr Kayode Fayemi as the winner of the Saturday, July 14, 2018, governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ekiti State, former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has sent him a congratulatory message.

In the letter dated Sunday 15th July 2018, personally signed by him, Obasanjo, however, urged him to be magnanimous in victory by extending a hand of fellowship to other contestants who failed to clinch the exalted position.

He also advised Fayemi not to betray the confidence reposed in him by the people of Ekiti by re-electing him, after he had been out of the government house for the past four years.

Obasanjo, who indicated in the letter that he was in transit to Beijing, China, when he got the cheery news of Fayemi’s victory, added that his victory was a proof that the people of Ekiti valued his leadership and appreciated the contributions he had made.

The letter read partly, “You will agree with me, no doubt, that the outcome of the election broadly reflects the choice of your people, who have, by their conduct, visibly demonstrated that they cherish you and will do their utmost to make you succeed.

“I urge you, therefore, to reciprocate their trust by doing everything you can to strengthen their faith in democracy and in its ability to bring about improved material conditions and better service delivery to them.

“You have fought and won the election and deserve to savour the victory. As you rejoice, however, I would urge that you should be magnanimous in victory and stretch a hand of fellowship to the other candidates who failed in their bid for elected office.

“Such a gesture is not only charitable but should also help at this time to cool passions in the wider interest of Ekiti State in particular and Nigeria at large.

“I felicitate with you, once again, on your renewed mandate and, as you prepare for another four years at the helm of affairs of Ekiti State, I extend best wishes for your good health and continued progress of the state under your leadership.”
