Greg Ibe dole out cash, food, essentials to 10,000 Abians in 17 LGAs to cushion effect of COVID-19

Educationist and Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Professor Greg Ibe has doled out cash, food items and other basic essentials across the 17 local government areas of Abia State to rural dwellers.

Prof Ibe, who is currently in the United States had earlier directed that bags of rice, cartons of noodles be taken to the rural dwellers in each of the local governments for onward distribution. So on Friday, 10th April 2020, each of the 17 LGAs in the state received bags of rice, cartons of noodles and cash from his representatives.

Prof. Greg Ibe who spoke through Skype to the representatives of all the LGAs, informed them that his intention was to help people in the remote areas cushion the effect of the lockdown that arose from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The palliative packages were provided through the Abia Crusaders Foundation.

Those present during distribution include: Chief Surveyor Eze Ibeajah – Governing Council
Member of Gregory University Uturu, Hon. Uche Enyioko – Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia State on Education and former Commissioner for Agriculture; Chief Emeka Okafor – a two time former Commissioner in Abia State, Barr. F. Ibebuike, – former HOS in Abia State Local Government Service, Chief Mrs. Stella Nwaohanmuo,
Chief Dr. M.C. Okoli (Macro) – former TC Chairman of Aba South.

Other dignitaries present include; Barr. Egbeke – former Commissioner and TC Chairman of Umunneoche, Mr. Sleek Ogwo – renowned journalist and image maker of GUU, and many others.

Recall that Ibe had earlier donated 850 bags of rice, cartons of hand sanitizer and surgical masks to the Abia State Government as a way to support the efforts being made by the government.

Prof Ibeh also donated three ambulances as well as provision of the facilities at Gregory University Teaching Hospital Amachara in Umuahia among others.

The donations were made to assist Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (Ph.D) combat the COVID – 19 scourge squarely, should any of such case arise in Abia.
