There was an overwhelming joy among to the people of Maryland community, Enugu brought by Chief Chinedu Onukwue (Wa 1 of Wawaland) the Administrator of Enugu South-East Development Area Council.
Chief Onukwue in rolling out his Covid-19 triple palliatives to cushion the effect of the pandemic on the people, provided medical drugs and check up services, food and financial palliatives.
The food also included bags of rice, cartons of noodles, gallons of groundnut oil, tins of tomatoes, bags of onions, seasonings, and many other food items.
Also, over 40 medical and health workers were mobilized to the program in addition to the relevant materials (test kits, drugs/vitamins supplements, hand sanitizers, liquid hand washing soaps, insecticide treated nets etc).
In the same spirit of care, some selected persons benefited immensely from the financial palliative assistance to ameliorate the suffering occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic.
Chief Onukwue in his address told the people that he decided to share the little he had together with them at this critical and trying time.
He said that this is a time to show love no matter how little.
Also in a lecture titled “Corona Virus and Security”, Supol Friday Eze advised Keke riders to adhere strictly to the 7pm closure government order.
He equally appealed for strict compliance of the 10pm curfew.
Another lecture on hypertension, it’s causes, symptoms and prevention was delivered by Amarachi Iloelunachi Chikamso.
Ahuchaogu King-David on his part, spoke on ‘Keen Awareness on the Recent Facts on COVID-19’.
A detailed lecture on the local sourced foods that can help reduce hypertensive cases was also delivered by; Ottah C Samuel.
The free medical jamboree outreach witnessed hundreds of drugs been dispensed out the people.
Aged mothers out of happiness were moved to say special prayers for His Excellency Rt Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and his son Chief Onukwue.
In his closing remarks, Chief Onukwue told them that he will effect a repeat in all the four wards he represents later in the week. He also thanked His Excellency Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for all his developmental strides at Maryland especially in the areas of roads and political appointments.
