Coal City University, (CCU) Enugu inducts 50 internationally-acclaimed scholars into its Visiting Fellowship Programme

Coal City University, Enugu on Monday, 7th September 202 inducted over 50 internationally acclaimed scholars and fellows in its Visiting Fellowship Programme.

According to the university, the inducted 50 world class scholars would be in the services of the university for the 2020-2022 academic sessions.

It is expected that these scholars will in the coming months and years, work together with their colleagues in Coal City University (CCU)in join research projects and collaborative teaching of courses.

The induction exercise was held online via Google Meet, at 1 pm.

Keynote Speaker at the programme was Professor Osita Ogbu, former Minister of National Planning, while the Chief Host was Professor Afam Icha-Ituma, the university’s Vice Chancellor.

Theme of the programme was Engaging African Academic Diaspora in Buildimg a Model University in Nigeria.

Speaking at the programme, the VC, Professor Icha-Ituma stated that the CCU is open to academics at other institutions wishing to contribute to academic activities in CCU.

He further said “This is an exciting opportunity for academics with significant international experience to contribute to building a world class university in Nigeria. The programme particularly provides opportunity for Nigerians in the diaspora or scholars with an established or emerging international reputation to spend one to twelve months in the University.

“This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to shaping our future and building a world class university in Africa. A visiting fellow whose application is successful will be granted affiliation to one of the departments of the University during his/her time at Coal City University.”
