The National Coordinator of PDP Coalition,Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to put a check on security agencies and their cohorts harrasing governors of the party in Edo State.
The PDP chieftain who decried the barrage of police officers at the hotel housing Governor Nyesom Wike, warned that if the situation is allowed to fester, the elections may be marred by violence and lawlessness, with security agents who should protect the law are the ones abusing it.
He said “It is disheartening and an impunity of the highest order for police officers to be harrasing elected governors for the sake of elections. Why is the harassment against the opposition governors and not against the governors of the All Progressives Congress who are in the state?
I am calling on the President, the IGP of police and other stakeholders to wade into the situation as this injustice cannot be allowed to take over our civil rights in the name of politics to serve the interest of the APC and its selfish goals.
“What’s happening now is dsmangerous for our democracy, and smells of terror being hatched to be unleashed during the elections. The president must arrest the situation immediately before it goes out of hand. Edo people must be allowed to vote and be voted for, without desperate politicians and security trying to thwart results”, he warned.
