A frontline human rights activist and President, One Love Foundation, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor has called on the governor of the State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to reassure the people of Edo state maximum security irrespective of party affiliations.
Chief Eholor stated this while chatting with our Correspondent in Benin on the situation of the state.
“I have seen the governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki with combined military forces – the Army, the Air force, the Police and Civil Defence. I know a lot of you in this platform will want to misconstrue my statement, I am not here to play politics and I think the politics time is over.
The state actors and state agents; it’s time for you all to do the needful; to reassure the citizens of Edo State who voted for Mr. Obaseki that we are safe, whether the All Progressive Congress, APC, or the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP”.
Chief Eholor who noted that engagement of battalions did not solve the Lekki massacre said that the governor should assure citizens that the victim of SARS would be compensated while those who victimized them would be prosecuted.
Chief Eholor further said that the Governor should reassure citizens that there will be transparency and accountability in his government.
“Remember, going out with battalions didn’t solve the Lekki massacre, let the governor reassure us that the victims of SARS will be compensated while those who victimized them will be prosecuted. And that there will be transparency and accountability in his government and there will be no witch hunting of those who didn’t vote for him or were with him. His foot soldiers and media gurus and propagandists should shield their swords and tongue of destruction, this is a time for strength, unity and a better Edo State for all his citizens”, he enthused.
He however described the silence of the international communities as unfortunate as we are not their priority adding that the jailbreak in Benin was a conspiracy.
