The umbrella body of Edo indigenes, under the auspices of Edo Progressive Indigenes Association (EPIA), has commended the South South Governors Forum for its establishment of the BRACED Security Council.
EPIA, also known as Edo Indigenous Movement Worldwide (EIM) said its a very laudable gesture, following the alarming rise of insecurity in the country.
Speaking through its founder and Indigenous Leader, Chief (Dr) Bishop Omogiade Enoyiogiere Edokpolo, EPIA however, advised that they enforce it to the letter and not to handle it as a toothless bulldog that can not achieve its purpose.
His words “The BRACED (Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo, Delta) Indigenous governors should know that they have the opportunity under one umbrella now to establish a firm positive position that will change the narrative forever for southerners.
“They should strip themselves off from Northern dominance of power and speak with one voice, and be ready to veto any position from the Federal Government that does not reflect equal position, allocation, empowerment, development and political appointments. History will not forgive the current governors from South South that are now opportuned to be under one political party if they can not take this advantage to deliver the South South from been marginalized for so so long.
“Also, the governors should also understand that we Southerners are the architects of our problems by demonstrating the habit of betrayal and diversion of the peoples funds for personal use. We therefore end up under the protection of a northern leader. All these have to stop and you all have to grow up.
“This is needed now than ever before. Please note that the people of the South South are awake from their sleep”, Edokpolo stated.
