Two foremost Anambra sons from Akpo Town, Aguata Local Government Area, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka and Dr Vincent Okpala have expressed gratitude to Governor Charles Soludo for flagging off the construction of the long-neglected Akpo-Ogboji Road by the state government.
Ezeonwuka, a Board of Trustees member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA in an interview, said that for the governor to have visited Akpo town and actually done the flag off ceremony means that he has the welfare of the people at heart. He therefore implored the governor to expedite action on the road, so that, when it is eventually completed, the road would be one of the most solid, quality roads not only in Anambra State, but in the whole country.
Recalling events that led to the victory of Soludo, he said the governor visited Akpo town first, after receiving his ticket in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
Ezeonwuka, who is also the Ogilisi Igbo, enunciated that the blessings the governor received from the leadership and people of Akpo contributed immensely to his eventual victory at the polls.
Ezeonwuka also said “The governor has promised that the project would begin in November, and we know he is a man of his words. We the people of Akpo and all of Aguata are grateful, knowing that we would have something solid to boast of regarding Governor Soludo in the future. Let the goodies begin to roll out. Thank you, Mr Governor!, he stated.
On his part, a former Commisioner for Health in Anambra State, Dr Vincent Okpala, while speaking, said a very remarkable thing happened on the day his people of Akpo hosted Gov Soludo on Sunday, September 26th 2021.
He stated “His Excellency was hosted by us 40 days to the election and he emerged victorious. 40 is a remarkable number. A baby stays in the womb for 40 weeks before he or she is born. The children of Israel stayed in the wilderness for 40 years, and there are a lot of 40s that make that number unique. It’s a spiritual number and the governor’s visit had a spiritual undertone and he won and became our governor. We were the first town to host him after he was given the ‘ofo’ in Awka. When he came, every Igwe in Aguata, every PG and woman PG and APGA EXCO from the 14 towns of Aguata were all there. The local government EXCO was also there and we all gathered to pray for his victory.
“So Akpo is a significant town in the history of this administration and that’s why we are happy that he Honoured us by returning at this point to flag off the road. We have no doubt at all that by the time the project is completed, it will stand out as a shining light among the projects of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo”, he concluded.
