The 2019 edition of the pageant was hosted in Accra, the Ghanaian capital city.

The event, which is billed to last 10 days, will commence with an international Entertainment Economic Summit in the last week of September at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, Monday, President of Miss Heritage Global, Nhlanhla Shabangu, said the event will showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage in cuisines, fashion, dance etc., as the contestants will also undertake a tour of the country’s heritage sites to learn about Nigeria as well as experience everyday culture in “Africa’s most culturally influential country”.

Everywhere around the world people are listening to afrobeat and eating African food because of Nigeria’s influence and now we are bringing the world to experience the source of all this cultural creativity”, said Shabangu.

According to him, “hosting Miss Heritage Global puts a global spotlight on Nigeria’s culture in an educative and entertaining experience that has something for everyone”

Shabangu said the Miss Heritage Global 10-day experience will allow the world to see the authentic side of Nigeria outside of mainstream media narratives through the contestants’ firsthand experience which they will share online.

“The 10 days event programme also aims to promote cultural diplomacy by engaging the diplomatic corps from participating countries in the host country through various networking events that opens up the opportunity for international business and collaboration. All of this culminating into a captivating live show celebrating world culture through music, fashion, and dance which will be broadcast live on www.missheritage.org”, he stated.

Commenting on the kind of beauty that will wear the Miss Heritage crown, Vice President and creator of Miss Heritage Global, Ronald Tisauke, who was also at the Press briefing, said, “Miss Heritage Global is the woman who has demonstrated openness to learning a new culture, while displaying pride for her own. At the core of the MHG brand is unity in diversity, so the Miss Heritage Global Queen is a cultural ambassador who embodies the ability for humanity to come together and despite our cultural differences”.

Contestants in the pageant are expected to arrive Nigeria on October 1, 2021 and will take part in several pre-pageant events fixed to boost the show.

Earlier in his welcome address, President of Entertainment Economic Summit Africa Group (EESA), who chaired the event, Alhaji Musa Mantu, said the event will be held in collaboration with federal government agencies to promote Nigeria’s rich heritage.

Stating that EESA aims at driving new initiatives and partnerships for the good of the new digital economy and the sustainability of the entertainment industry in Nigeria and indeed Africa at large, Alhaji Mantu thanked organizers of the event for selecting Abuja as host city from over 120 interested cities across the world.

Mantu said entertainment and tourism have the potentials to boost Nigeria’s economic fortunes, away from oil, if properly harnessed.

Quoting PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC), Mantu said “apart from the tourism, arts and digital economy industries, the media and entertainment industry contributes more than $717 billion to the United States economy. The film and television industry alone contributes more than $41 billion each year to the economy and provide nearly two million people with employment. Nigeria as the highest content producing country in the world at the moment can be a direct beneficiary and If Africa can create one market, then, we can compete favorably well with any market globally.”

Speaking also, Media Partner for the event, Charles Ndudim, said Abuja is about to experience a show that will turn its fortunes around.

According to him, the Miss Heritage Global pageant is the biggest event in the tourism and entertainment calendar scheduled for 2021 adding that all Covid-19 prevention protocols will be fully observed in the management of the event.

He urged Nigerians to be ready for an event that will not be easily deleted from their memory in a long time.

BREAKING: 5 killed as army invade Orlu, burn 10 buildings, church over IPOB security

Operatives of the Nigerian Army on Monday again attacked residents of Okporo, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, killing about five persons.

Jungle Journalist Media Ltd can confirm that many persons were also injured when the soldiers stormed the community suspected to be the operational base of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) security outfit, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The attack by the soldiers was said to be a reprisal after members of the ESN engaged them in a shootout last Friday.
It was gathered that one person died at the community market square during the security operation last Friday.

Also, about 10 buildings, including a church, Blessed Holy Trinity Sabbath Mission, were allegedly set ablaze by the soldiers.

“They came back today and started killing our people, I can’t confirm the number of casualties now but they are more than five. They were here last Friday and killed one person at the market square.

About 10 buildings were also burnt by these masked security agents on Friday.

“Imo State is not safe presently; Governor Hope Uzodinma shouldn’t allow soldiers to kill all his people,” a source said.

IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, had in December 2020 launched ESN to protect the people of South-East and South-South regions from terrorists and bandits allegedly trooping in from the North.

Kanu described the outfit as a replica of the Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as Amotekun, earlier launched by the governors of the South-West to curb insecurity in the region.

“The sole aim and objective of this newly formed security outfit known as Eastern Security Network is to halt every criminal activity and terrorist attack on Biafraland,” Kanu had said.

“This outfit, which is a vigilante group like the Amotekun in the South-West and the Miyetti Allah security outfit, will ensure the safety of our forests and farmland which terrorists have converted into slaughter grounds and raping fields.”

He added that the establishment of the security outfit became necessary following what he described as the “failure” of the governors of the South-South and South-East to put in place measures to protect the people in those regions.

Earlier reports had it that the Nigerian Army had deployed combat helicopters, gun trucks and soldiers to search some forests in the South-East states where the ESN was suspected to be camping.

The military search had been ongoing for days, and had no time frame, as the army was acting on “orders from above.”
From drones and hidden cameras believed to be installed by the ESN, a video captured the Nigerian Army helicopters and their vehicles and soldiers searching for the camp of the ESN to make arrests.

Recently, it was learnt that some Nigerian soldiers resigned and joined the ESN, on the grounds that the ESN, being funded by both international and local donors, had better welfare packages for its officers than the military.

“The Kanu ESN boys are not a bunch of rookies and untrained fellows brandishing guns. I personally know five guys from my hometown in Anambra State who left the Nigerian Army to join the ESN. Two of them were formerly serving in Operation Lafiya Dole, Borno State, before they quit.

“We are being reliably informed that there are other soldiers, particularly of the South-East extraction, who will soon leave for other various reasons and they are likely to be recruited into the fold,” a military source stated.

In July 2012, about 356 soldiers in the North-East and other theatres of operation had resigned from the army – some on voluntary retirement, while others cited loss of interest as their reason for disengagement.

The soldiers had written to the army chief, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, on July 3, 2020, under Reference NA/COAS/001, quoting the Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service soldiers/rating/airmen (Revised) 2017.

The approval of the voluntary disengagement of the 356 soldiers was contained in a 17-page circular from Buratai, AHQ DOAA/G1/300/92, signed by Brig Gen T.E. Gagariga for the army chief.
Again, this January, another batch of 127 soldiers resigned from the Nigerian Army and are due to leave by May.

They comprised one Master Warrant Officer, three Warrant Officers, 22 Staff Sergeants, 29 Sergeants, 64 Corporals, seven Lance Corporals and one Private.

A cross-section of Nigerians criticised the Nigerian Army for deploying aircraft and gun trucks to locate Kanu’s ESN camp, saying it was a misplaced priority in the security challenges facing the country.

A few others, however, supported the military saying the ESN could become a regional security threat since the South-East governors had also dissociated themselves from the outfit.

On Twitter, several Nigerians believed that the military action was a misplaced priority and such enthusiasm and energy were not seen in the North-East against the Boko Haram terrorists nor against the bandits in the North-West.

Anambra Govt Vows To Arrest, Prosecute Naked Miracle Bathing Prophet Onyeze For Alleged Fraud

Anambra State Government is poised to prosecute a fake miracle peddler, ‘Onyeze Jesus‘ of Nkpor, for suspected fraud.

Information Commissioner, C. Don Adinuba, said there are complaints that the pastor uses magic and fake miracles to swindle followers. Government according to him, is investigating the alleged victims’ claims and will prosecute the Nkpor pastor if these are verified, he said.

In viral videos streaming online, the pastor gathers followers in a stream where they are made to take a naked bath in the river. He moves round them spraying the river with various currency notes while he video records the ritual.

The recordings are thereafter gleefully shared online to recruit more gullible followers.
Adinuba said government is “appalled” at his conduct which,”has brought Anambra State into global ridicule.”

“We received reports from former disciples that Onyeze Jesus swindled them of their hard earned resources. All the promises and assurances of turning them into overnight millionaires have proved to be fraudulent. The state Government is looking into the claims. If we find merit in the claims, he will be prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Adinuba said.

Here is the full statement, released today, 25 January 2021, by the Commissioner:

“The Anambra State Government is in possession of some videos produced by one person who goes by the name of Onyeze Jesus based in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, where he not only claims to change the economic status of his adherents by magical means but also throws a lot of Nigeria’s currency notes into the river and compels his adult followers, both male and female, to bath naked in the river and records them on video which he distributes gleefully to all manner of people through the Internet and other means.

“The State Government is appalled at the conduct of this man. Anambra people are famous throughout the world for their industry, knowledge, ingenuity, perseverance, a high savings rate and an infectious business drive, all combined to enable them to achieve tremendous success in various fields. Their success is not overnight nor through magic.

“Onyeze Jesus promotes superstition and strife in society. By telling his gullible and brainwashed followers that their misfortune is caused by family members, relatives, friends and business associates through magical powers, he is fomenting serious troubles and instigating eternal enmity in various places and businesses. Some of these troubles can lead to physical fights, bodily injuries and even deaths.

“By throwing plenty of naira notes into the river regularly as part of sacrifice to the river goddess and filming it and distributing the film to the whole world, he has brought Anambra State into global ridicule and, worse, gregariously committed a criminal offence. Burning or destroying the naira through any means is an offence criminalized by the Central Bank of Nigeria Act of 2007, and the offender is liable to imprisonment.

“By forcing his disciples to have a bath naked in a river, then film the naked adults and distribute the videos across the globe, Onyeze Jesus is guilty of denying his followers the right to self-dignity and of promoting indecent exposure, which is a crime under the Nigerian law.

“We have received reports from former disciples that Onyeze Jesus has swindled them of their hard earned resources, that is, all the promises and assurances of turning them into overnight millionaires have proved to be fraudulent. The state Government is looking into the claims. If we find merit in the claims, he will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The people and Government of Anambra State are irrevocably committed to fundamental rights of freedom of worship and freedom of association as well as freedom of conscience. However, observing these freedoms should not lead to a situation where heinous crimes will be carried out with impunity, whether in the name of religion or not.

“Anambra State is a modern society governed by the rule of law, civilized values and proper conduct. The government will not stand akimbo watching while an individual or a handful of individuals flagrantly abuse its values and flout its laws.

“We wish to thank numerous individuals and organizations alarmed at the conduct and claims of Onyeze Jesus and his cohorts and complained accordingly to the appropriate authorities. We assure them and millions of our people that an appropriate action is being taken.”

Enough is enough! 3 million Fulanis cannot continue to hold 200 million Nigerians to ransom

Frontline social rights activist and president of One Love Foundation, Comrade Patrick Eholor has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari must call Fulani herdsmen to order to avoid the looming crises they have created, and a possible civil war.
Eholor in a telephone interview this morning, argued that the Fulani is a minority in population holding Nigeria by the jugular, and must never be allowed to continue to cause mayhem across the country.
Accusing the president’s media adviser Femi Adesina and the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo of complicity in the ongoing crises in the South West, Eholor, who is also popularly known as Ultimate Equals called for the sack of the service chiefs, and the legalization of firearms for citizens to defend themselves.
His words “General TY Danjuma once said that the Fulani are about 3milliom in population. And it may interest you that we are over 200 million, even though it wasn’t captured by the census commission.

“How can you be allowing 3 million people to be controlling and leading us to doom in this country? Sunday Igboho of Oyo State has said that because the Federal Government can no longer protect them, they are giving the herdsmen seven days to vacate their forests. The Ondo State governor also said the same thing. Unfortunately, Femi Adesina has sold his birthright by keeping quiet while his kinsmen are slaughtered.
“The same goes for Vice President Osinbajo, who is just there doing nothing. We know what a civil war is. We have fought one and know that casualties will suffer from both sides. There is no country in the world that has fought civil war twice and recovered. Look at Somalia today.
“Somali may never recover again. For the sake of peace, for the sake of sanity, let President Muhammadu Buhari drop nepotism and favouritism. Let him know what is right and what is fair, and do it for this country.
“Nnamdi Kanu is also there talking about marginalization. Niger Delta states are marginalized. Ndoma people are being enslaved. I am from South south, Edo. We see a lot of robbery and kidnapping and rape by herdsmen. A video went viral today, where a bus was abandoned along Benin-Ora road. Kidnappers came there and took away the passengers, telling their people to pay ransom.
“It has happened so many times and I am saying that I am tired. Are we living in a banana republic or are we still living in a country? In order for us to take our country back, I think President Muhammadu Buhari has to show respect for the rule of law.
“It also is worthy to note that the issue of self protection can never be wished away. It is a universal law that people have to protect themselves. So if President Muhammadu Buhari can no longer protect us, if he can no longer trust his government, if we are at the mercy of criminals, the we must be allowed to carry guns, and other weapons to protect ourselves. Enough is enough. Nigeria is sitting on the keg of a gunpowder. I hope it doesn’t escalate. If it does, it will consume the rich and the poor. War is not friendly.
“If they do not want to solve this problem by calling for a referendum, then they must be ready to build more prisons, and buy more guns to kill their citizens, because we are not going to relent.”, he stated.

QUIT NOTICE TO HERDSMEN: Ondo Govt orders massive recruitment into Amotekun

Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, has ordered massive recruitment into the state chapter of the Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun.

Adetunji Adeleye, commander of the corps in the state, confirmed this in an interview with journalists on Friday.

“The governor has ordered massive recruitment to the corps. The recruitment is free. You can download the form on our website,” Adeleye said.

Donald Ojogo, commissioner for information, also confirmed reports of the recruitment.

“We have not repudiated the story,” he said.

On Monday, Akeredolu had ordered herders to vacate the forest reserves over rising insecurity in the state

He had said “bad elements” have turned the forest reserves into hideouts for keeping victims of kidnapping, negotiating ransom and carrying out other criminal activities.

The governor’s directive had sparked different reactions, with Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, saying the governor could not unilaterally oust thousands of herders “who have lived all their lives in the state”.

But Afenifere, Yoruba sociopolitical group, said Shehu’s response showed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government prioritise Fulani interests above those of other ethnic groups.

The Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF) had asked herders to disregard the governor’s directive.

State governors should enforce 1969 law that banned open grazing in Nigeria – Activist Eholor

A crusader of social justice and equality, Chief Patrick Eholor has stated that it’s high time the law and justice system of the country enforce the ban on open grazing which was done in 1969 by the renown Justice Adewale Thompson. He said state governors should as a matter of necessity enforce this law and arrest offenders, to protect their citizens and communities.

Eholor in his argument stated that it was becoming increasingly dangerous to ignore the ban, while gun wielding, killer herdsmen go about raiding communities and destroying farm products, lives and property, and even raping women and girls in order to establish fear and dread across the country.

He decried the spate of insecurity raging across the northern part of the country due to the menace of Fulani cattle grazers, which has continued to increase down in the southern part, despite the ban by the late judge.

He stated ” It is time for Nigerians to be aware that there is a ban on open grazing in this country. As far back as 1969, the renown Justice Adewale Thompson delivered a judgment which placed a ban on open grazing, and thereby made it a crime to enter farms and cause havoc to people’s crops.

“We all must be aware of our rights over this impunity, and get the Justice System to reaffirm that ban. Herdsmen must be arrested and jailed for violating that ban, and this must be done within the ambit of the law, to end the growing terrorism imposed by Fulanis upon our communities.

“For the benefit of those who do not know it, Justice Thompson on 17th April 1979, in Suit no AB/26/66 at Abeokuta Division of the High Court, made the ban and warned of unprovoked killing by Fulani herdsmen.

“His words ‘I do not accept the contention of Defendants that a custom exists which imposes an obligation on the owner of farm to fence his farm whilst the owner of cattle allows his cattle to wander like pests and cause damage. Such a custom if it exists, is unreasonable and I hold that it is repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience and therefore unenforceable…in that it is highly unreasonable to impose the burden of fencing a farm on the farmer without the corresponding obligation on the cattle owner to fence in his cattle.

‘Sequel to this,I ban open grazing for it is inimical to peace and tranquility and the cattle owners must fence or ranch their animals for peace to reign in these communities.’

According to Eholor, “It is high time states put this law into practice and end unprovoked killings by Fulani herdsmen. This information should be shared widely so that state governors should be aware of it. It is not known that anybody appealed against this decision, so in law any open grazing is a violation of the law. State governors should setup task forces that will enforce this law and arrest offenders”.

Activist Eholor threatens to drag Gov Obaseki to court as security deteriorates in Edo

Chief Patriot Patrick Eholor, a human right activist has threatened to drag Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki to court over the insecurity issues at verious parts of the state especially Benin City, the state capital.

He said it is becoming worrisome that inhabitants of the state now live at the mercy of hoodlums over robbery, kidnapping and cult clashes which has led to the lose of lives since October last year.

According to the president of One Love Foundation, “Edo as a state has now being hijacked by hoodlums who have continued to operate freely as robbers, kidnappers or cultists. People are being robbed on daily basis, POS operators, market women at various quarters, drivers and passengers are left to their faith. We have never had it bad like this as a state.

He also said “Nigerians should know their rights, especially my Edo people. If anybody is killed or kidnapped again in Edo State, I will sue the governor because he collects security votes. So I will ask him what he is using the security votes for, because it is a constitutional matter, very clear that the government is suppose to protect us as citizens.

“All we want is a safe Edo State where investors can come in and do business any day any time. We need jobs to be created for our teeming youths. Politics aside, the governor should do better”, he added.
