Ishienu Amofu Peoples Assembly, Nkerefi, an assembly of progressive minds in Ishienu Amofu, which comprises sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, elder statesmen and women, and all stakeholders have observed with amusement, several attempts by a section of people in our community who have been going about peddling lies in an attempt to convince the gullible that an election was held to choose an Igwe for our community.
We are not surprised at this vain attempts to impose one man on our people without the due process of an election. This is not the first time and certainly this won’t be the last time they will try to test our will to elect an Igwe as a united community, but one thing we can assure them and the general public is, the harder they come, the harder they fall.
Anyone trying to impose an unelected Igwe on Ndi Ishienu Amofu will fail, as we will never accept a self imposed Igwe on our people. Our Igwe must emerge through a free fair and transparent election, so that we may have a man rich in the qualities required of an Igwe to reign over us.
SETTING THE RECORDS STARIGHT
For the avoidance of doubt, no election has been held anywhere for Igweship position, so where ans when did they get an Igwe?
An initial election was scheduled to hold on February 4th, 2024, but the Commisioner for Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs postponed it to March 30th. For that reason, Amofu Nkerefi people also scheduled to hold a General Congress on the 28th of March. For reasons best known to him, the President General thwarted efforts for us to hold the General Congress and refunded two other persons who purchased forms for the Igweship election.
He also planned to ensure that the election was held on 30th, with a single candidate on the ballot, when our people had not met at any General Congress to reach any agreement.
The result was that the masses totally rejected the planned election, and as a result, no election was held on 30th. This is because all processes leading to it was done in very suspicious circumstances.
How can a great community like Ishienu Amofu hold an Igweship election, and only one man would show interest in the position? That is impossible.

You cannot impose a man on the people and claim that he is the monarch and expect us to accept him, just because you have in the past, imposed your policies on a section of our people with success.
Enough is enough.
Ishienu Amofu will hold a proper election and vote for an Igwe in a free, fair and transparent election.
Until then, let no one keep lying to the general public that an Igwe has been elected to reign over us. Stop insulting our intelligence.
All parties concerned, take note!
