The just concluded Enugu 042 NaijaBrandChick (NBC) Trade Fair recorded transaction volume in excess of N500 million, Enugu State government has said.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Enugu Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Agency, who is also the Special Adviser to the governor on MSMEs & Digital Economy, Arinze Chilo–Offiah, noted that the fair, which was organised by the Enugu SME Agency and NaijaBrandChick (NBC) at Okpara Square, Enugu, also attracted over 120 vendors, mainly from the fashion, food, electronics, and across various other sectors.
He said the development reflects Enugu State’s increasing economic vibrancy and growth into a commercial hub. Chilo-Offiah further noted that the trade fair aligned with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision to grow the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion and make the state one of Nigeria’s top three states by Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
“The fair, held on November 2 and 3, attracted over 120 vendors from various sectors, including fashion, food, electronics, and more. More than 30,000 shoppers from within and outside Enugu attended, showcasing the state’s ability to draw significant foot traffic. This large turnout demonstrated Enugu’s appeal as a destination for trade and commerce, with the added assurance of security, allowing businesses to flourish without concern.
Similarly, the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has assured that there is no security threat to the 10-day Aba International Trade Fair scheduled to be held between November 28 and December 7, 2024, at the Aba Mega Hall located along the Aba- Port Harcourt Expressway.
The governor announced this, yesterday, through his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, during a press briefing held at the Government House, Umuahia. He said: “We are anticipating an influx of visitors, business people and shoppers. Security teams have been effectively mobilised, including effective security arrangements for everyone no matter what part of the town they are coming from or staying in.”
According to the deputy governor, free shuttle buses shall be stationed at particular times and strategic junctions to convey participants safely. The trade fair, organised by the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA), will expectedly feature over 10,000 exhibitors, more than 300 businesses, including manufacturers, importers, and service providers, about 50 embassies, 35 states and Abuja.
