Stop chasing Almajiris off your states, Prophet Muhammad is against it – MURIC cautions Northern govs

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, on Friday criticized the current expulsion of almajiris from various Northern states to their states of origin due to the spread of COVID-19.

It said the expulsion of almajiris by state governments was wrongly-timed.

MURIC urged Northern governors to postpone the expulsion of almajiris until the COVID-19 pandemic is over.

The group made the call in a statement signed and sent to DAILY POST by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

MURIC stated that the world would have been a better place if the teachings of Prophet Muhammad were adhered to by the people.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19, several states have been repatriating almajiris from their states.

However, MURIC in a statement said: “Many states of the North have been expelling large numbers of almajiris back to their states of origin in recent times. For example, on April 21st, 2020, Kano expelled 432 almajiris to Katsina, 63 to Yobe, 198 to Kaduna, etc. Expectedly, the Northern states are beginning to take responsibility and there is every reason to believe that plans are already on ground to take good care of those almajiris on arrival in their home states. The motive behind it is commendable.

“However, the expulsions have coincided with the COVID-19 outbreak and this is our first concern. The children are being exposed to great danger. To make matters worse, significant numbers of these almajiris are testing positive to Coronavirus, thereby swelling the COVID-19 caseloads of their receiving states and making the management of this global pandemic more difficult for Nigerian authorities.

“Unfortunately, some of these almajiris are also escaping to southern states, potentially spreading COVID-19 to every nook and cranny of Nigeria.

“It is clear that the concerned Northern States appeared to have acted without consulting Islamic scholars who are at their beck and call. Islam opposes the idea of leaving a city under plague attack. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) warned that, ‘If a plague breaks out in a city and you are living there, do not leave it. And if you are about to enter a city and there is a plague there, do not enter there’.

“The reported expulsions and arrangement of caravan-like trips for the expulsion of almajiris from some Northern states is therefore ill-advised and badly timed. The exercise is already being abused as some of the almajiris are allegedly escaping southwards. Worse still is the fact that some of them have already tested positive for COVID-19.

“Nigeria would have fared better if we had strictly followed the Islamic teaching on remaining in one place during a plague. Even the world would have been safer today but the phobia for anything Islamic did not allow world powers to take advantage of the wisdom in Islamdom for managing pandemics.

“We appeal to the security agencies to strictly enforce the ban on interstate travels, including stemming the tide of interstate almajiri ‘exports’. Many of the index cases in some states have been traced to people who came in from outside such states. The police have a case to answer, particularly concerning trailers caught with human and animal cargoes in the south during the week. How did they ply the roads that lead to the south with several roadblocks along the line?

“As we round off, we enjoin Northern governors to postpone the expulsion of almajiris until the COVID-19 pandemic is over. Instead, the Federal Government, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and the NCDC should collaborate with the concerned Northern states to gather all those almajiris in a few central locations, test them for the Coronavirus, isolate the infected and treat them promptly. That way, this scourge will be nipped in the bud among them and we would have prevented the spread of COVID-19 via infected almajiris to the whole of the country.

“Those in charge of the repatriation of almajiris must also ensure that the latter do not successfully escape down south where nobody understands their culture. We charge Nigerians to exercise patience by refraining from travels around this period and, better still, by staying at home, maintaining social distancing, using facemasks and washing their hands regularly or using sanitisers.”

OPINION: Like CAN, Like MURIC: The Part And Parcel Of Nigeria’s Problem

By Busy Brain

Anytime I think about the affairs of this nation, I do ask myself: what have we done wrong to deserve these killings and maiming in our regions? At times, within my innards, I always ask: what are the genesis of the problems marauding the nation? From Boko Haram bombings to Fulani herdsmen killings; Banditry and kidnappings are much more pervasive. For how long will it take us to find a way out ? Are there no Holy men from our religious groups who can talk to God to bestow His blessings upon our nation and restore peace? Sorry case! Some of our so called men of God are even worse, they are the ones making headlines with exasperating and shocking news stories.

Gone are those days, if there’s no peace in the land, the Holy Men in conglomeration will come together and speak to God in one voice. They will talk to God swiftly to spell out some malignant nemesis on the evil men and restore peace. But not any more, the crop of Holy men we have now cannot speak to God. Many have exhausted their air times; many have poor network except for the few ones who still maintain 4G to connect the Almighty God. For those that engage in fake prophesies and lobby the government in power, tell me, how will God answer our prayers when the ten percent and zakat offered emanated from the looted fund? Allahu Akbar in Jesus Name, unholy men swindling with Holy name. If we continue to run things this way, will there ever be peace ?

Sincerely, the mode of operation of our religious groups in Nigeria is more than worrisome. I didn’t feel sorry to say they are part and parcel of our problems but continue to point accuse fingers at political leaders. Having read the comments of Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN) on Boko Haram killings and Leah Sharibu’s hostage and Muslim Rights Concern’s ( MURIC) comments on Operation Amotekun, I have come to a facile conclusion that, these religious groups have nothing to offer this country than to get things out of hand.

Or Isn’t it irritating when CAN accused the Federal Government of working with Boko Haram to Islamise Nigeria? Isn’t it appalling that MURIC tagged Operation Amotekun a Christians’ outfit all in the name of religion? I don’t know how these associations do select their leaders but the current set of leaders paddling the groups are not helping the matter. Giving religious colouration to security issues is a big problem entirely. Is it possible for Federal Government to sponsor Boko Haram even when thousands of innocent citizens, Armed Forces are paying the price on daily basis. Will Buhari led administration be so happy while Leah Sharibu still in evil men’s den ? Boko Haram was tough during Gooodluck Jonathan’s regime; it is more tougher now. Boko Haram doesn’t have a specific direction and what they really want remains unknown to both the government and the governed. Who will now bear the blame for the loss of lives? It is still the government but the blame game should not come from those that prayed for their emergence.

Recently, one of the prominent pastors staged a prayer walk on the streets to express disapproval on the nature of killings in the country. For real, we are tired of these gory scenes. It’s getting unbearable. When I read the news, I commended the prayer walk but still, something seems unclear to me. During electioneering, the so called politicians who have failed today in the area of security visited different Mosques and Churches to receive blessings in order to be victorious. They attended their Ministries for prayer in order to emerge as winners. Many out of our Holy men had their shares from the loots. Of course, the money used to get private jets by pastors and exotic cars by Alfas didn’t come directly from heaven. Larger portion came from the purse of looters and these looters believe that, God has forgiven them of their sins because the anointed Imams and Pastors could not tell them the truth. But why? Why will our men of God hide the truth from these nefarious grandeurs during election and point fingers for failing us now? Our Imams and Pastors should have informed our political leaders that corruption is evil in the Holy Books before embracing their zakats and ten percent. The level of today’s insecurity is an output of corruption.

Alas! It’s very appalling that our agents of socialization have failed us woefully. The media has been asphyxiated and porous, Political class is nothing but a failure, entertainment industry has been infected by Marlians virus and our sanctified men of God that occupy CAN and MURIC are the agents of controversies. This government has failed us in the area of protecting lives and properties through Armed Forces, our MURIC and CAN have also failed us as weak prayer warriors. Like CAN, like MURIC, the part and parcel of Nigeria’s problem.

NUDITY: Muslim Group MURIC Describes BBNaija As Satanic, Asks FG To Shut It Down

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, infuriated by the airing of the 2019 edition of the Big Brother Naija Reality Show, has petitioned President Buhari to shut it down immediately.

In a press statement issued by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, the Muslim group labeled the reality show as ‘immoral, dangerous and Bohemian’ and also wondered why the Ministry of Information and Culture and the National Orientation Agency are on sabbatical over the show.

Full Text

“We are being forcibly dragged to a world of nudity, shamelessness and open promiscuity. Inmates of BBNaija kiss, romance and engage in sex openly. BBNaija is Bohemian, anti-social, crude and immoral. It constitutes a potent danger to every home. BBNaija is Satanic. It is unacceptable.

“Where are our norms and values? Is it part of African culture to engage in sex in the open? Where are the authorities? Is the Ministry of Information and Culture sleeping? Is the National Orientation Agency on sabbatical? Who will protect our children from this despicable onslaught? Who did this to Nigeria?

“This reality show is dragging our children into a life of moral debauchery. It is robbing them of the last vestiges of honour. It is deleting the word ‘shame’ from their vocabulary. BB Naija has alienated our youth from the elders. A yawning lacuna now exists between the young and the old. Irreversible social crisis looms.

“We must see those who woo our young ones with humongous amounts of money, big cars and palatial buildings as those bent on destroying industry, diligence and integrity particularly among the youth. Nothing destroys a nation faster than materialism. The daughters of Jezebel are here already. Unless the authorities move with the speed of lightning, human dignity in Nigeria is going, going, going!

“Or do we not realize that for every single BB Naija inmate who wins big amount of money and a car, more than 50 million young people are misled? Qur’an 30:41 says, ‘Evil has appeared on both land and sea as a result of the handiworks of men…’ The Bible in Ephesians 4:19 was also describing these people when it says, ‘Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.’

“Already, the desperate quest for wealth by all means has gripped Nigerian youth like hay fever. It has railroaded them into Yahoo Yahoo, ritual killings and a museum mentality for the collection of female panties. Where exactly are we going?

“This development calls for serious concern and we are deeply concerned because we are the Muslim Rights Concern. Our hearts bleed in MURIC. This is the kind of evil that Muslim and Christian leaders should unite to fight with all their strength instead of dissipating their energy on a phantom Islamisation, a mirage called Fulanisation, Maradonic religiousity and gymnastic spirituality.

“We can put an end to this anomaly called BB Naija if Christians and Muslims bury the hatchet and come together to fight evil. Home is home. Moral debauchery knows no religion. The destructive influence of television shows like BB Naija penetrates both Christian and Muslim homes.

“Ditto for the custodians of our culture and tradition. Our traditional rulers ignore a program like this which has all the potentials to diminish the dignity of our culture. They are fighting over who should be chairman of the Council of traditional rulers. They want to be the King of kings and rivals of the Supreme Creator. Who placed a curse on Nigeria?

“Homo sapiens may not respect a single snake when they see one. But can anyone wait to see what follows if the cobra leads and it is faithfully followed by the python, the black mamba, rattle snake, garter snake and the anaconda? So what do you think will happen if our traditional rulers from the East, West and North march on Aso Rock to demand the immediate halt of this horrible show?

“To cap the edifice, MURIC calls for immediate and total ban on this satanic television show. We charge the Ministry of Information and Culture to move swiftly against BB Naija before moral debauchery becomes Nigeria’s middle name. Nigerian youth must be protected from themselves and the time to do so is now. We invite the National Assembly to intervene immediately and we appeal to traditional rulers to add their voices to this campaign.”
